Best AI tools for site diaries
A good site diary is boring, consistent and written on the day. That is what wins delay and disruption arguments months later: weather, labour and plant numbers, deliveries, instructions received, visitors and what actually got built.
What to look for
AI helps in two ways. Field apps such as Sitemate's Dashpivot now turn voice notes and photos into structured forms. General assistants like ChatGPT or Claude can take a 90-second voice note and turn it into a full diary entry, as long as you give them a fixed format and tell them never to invent numbers.
If your firm already runs Procore or Fieldwire, start with their daily log before buying anything else. If you are a small contractor without a platform, a general assistant plus a disciplined template is the cheapest route.
